Chelsea had no new injury concerns ahead of today’s visit of Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, manager Graham Potter has confirmed.

Conor Gallagher, who was withdrawn in the first half of the 0-0 draw at Brentford due to illness, has trained but does not start.

Potter told reporters on Friday: “We are still in the process of recovery. Pretty much as we were with Brentford. Conor (Gallagher) trained today so we will see how he is over the 24 hours.”

It leaves just the long-term absentees Reece James (knee), N’Golo Kante (hamstring) and Wesley Fofana (knee) on the sidelines.

Potter sticks with the 3-4-3 formation he has utilised in recent weeks, with several rested stars like Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling all coming back in.

Kepa Arrizabalaga will keep his place in goal, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount in midfield.

Erik ten Hag makes just the one change to the XI that started Wednesday evening’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur. It comes in midfield, as Christian Eriksen returns in place of our first goalscorer in midweek, Fred. Eriksen missed last weekend’s match with Newcastle due to illness but returned to the bench in midweek and was introduced late on against Spurs.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has outlined how Erik ten Hag’s demands are benefitting the group, ahead of our busy end to October.

Having only lost once so far during the month, United still have clashes against Chelsea, Sheriff Tiraspol and West Ham to come, with a trip to Stamford Bridge the next task for Shaw and co to manoeuvre around.

Performing valiantly in our recent outings against both Newcastle United and Tottenham at Old Trafford, our no.23 has insisted he is beginning to see headway in the way the Reds perform out on the pitch.

”I can see a lot of progress. I can see that the team is enjoying the new ideas and wanting to work with the new ideas,” began Shaw, speaking exclusively to club media.

”He has brought a lot more intensity, a different structure and a structure that we now know what he wants us to do, which is a big help.

”The main thing is intensity and aggression and he wants us to go out on the pitch and give 100 per cent and leave it all out on the pitch.’

”I think competition is always healthy, everyone wants to play every game but you understand the manager only can pick 11,” Luke added.

”I think the new thing here with this new manager is if you are playing well and not training well, you are not going to be in the team.

Everyone knows that and it keeps everyone on their toes. No one can really relax and think they’re going to play every game because with this manager you’re not going to do that if you are not playing well.”

”I think we have always got a different game plan, the manager obviously watches the teams we are playing, the different teams and I think he always comes up with different game plans, different ways that we can attack the team,” he added.

”Like I say, he changes that game by game, and sometimes we have to adapt if we are a bit more higher or a bit more lower [on the pitch]. Sometimes he like us full-backs to come inside and get on the ball in the middle.

”I think at the moment we are really enjoying that and becoming a bit more freer, and [we can] go into more positions and help the team in attack.”
